TERO HANNONEN
Goldsmith Tero Hannonen graduated from the Lahti Design Institute as a goldsmith and founded Au3 Goldsmiths together with goldsmith Jussi Louesalmi. Hannonen and Louesalmi have designed and manufactured high-quality jewelry in their company, Au3 Goldsmiths since 2003.
Goldsmith Tero Hannonen designs modern classics with a touch of luxury. His high-quality jewelry are made with materials such as 18K yellow gold, 18K white gold, and 950 platinum and diamonds. His Ornament ring won The Most Beautiful Ring of the Year 2008 competition. In 2022 Tero was again in the competition finals, this time with an impressive Kymi diamond ring. In 2025, he is competing with his ring, In the Shadows, which features kinetic movement.
Tero Hannonen was nominated as the Goldsmith of the Year 2024. To honour this nomination Tero had an exhibition at The Finnish Museum of Horology and Jewellery Kruunu in Tapiola, Espoo in October-November 2024.
In the Shadows
Goldsmith Tero Hannonen is one of the ten finalists with his ring In the Shadows.
"The brightness of spring after winter is wonderful — but the most magical moment is when you sink into a hammock beneath the apple tree, and the light filters through the fresh leaves, bringing a gentle warmth. It might be a little chilly, with woollen socks still on your feet, yet a smile finds its way, and all you can do is enjoy."
The ring’s gemstones are set in a kinetic, rotating element that makes their sparkle dance like light among the branches. The ring is crafted from white gold and yellow gold, stainless steel, white diamonds and green diamonds, as well as green sapphires, tourmalines, tsavorites, and peridots.

The winner of the competition was chosen by public vote. Voting was open from October 1 to October 31, and the winner is announced in November 2025.
The Ring of the Year competition is organized by Häät Media together with Love Me Do event, The Finnish Museum of Horology and Jewellery Kruunu and The Finnish Goldsmiths’ Association. From October 9th to November 19th the rings will be exhibited at the Finnish Museum of Horology and Jewellery Kruunu in Espoo.
