Ring orders requires finger measurements that can be taken by us at Au3 Goldsmiths in Helsinki, or at any goldsmith store which has customer service.
Different countries may use different units or different ways of noting your size. At Au3 Goldsmiths we use the diameter and millimeters (mm) in the measurements. If you know your ring size in a different country, you can cross reference it with the ring size chart below to check what that size is at Au3 Goldsmiths and make your ring order more easily.
If you are not able to visit a goldsmiths store, you can also try to take the measurements yourself. Follow our instructions!
RIGHT SIZE FOR THE RING
The ring should be tight enough to not fall off by itself, but still it should not be too tight. A ring should slide over the joint with some resistance. You should be able to take it off quite easily but it shouldn’t fall off your finger.
Fingers react to temperature: on a hot day fingers are a bit bigger than on a cold day. The size of the finger might also vary during the day. Try to find a moment when your fingers are not too swollen, or when your hands are not too cold. Then the result of the measurement is more reliable.
At Au3 Goldsmiths, ring sizes are available at 0.25mm size intervals, so we are sure to find the right size for you.
TAKING MEASUREMENTS IN A GOLDSMITHS STORE
If you are visiting a goldsmiths store for taking the measurements, or if you are using an old ring to find out your size, be sure to measure your finger with a ring which is close to the width of the ring you are planning to order: wide rings need a bit more space than narrow ones.
You can give us the ring size information in millimeters (mm) or in inches (in). You can use either the circumference or diameter. At Au3 Goldsmith we use millimeters (mm) and the diameter.
MEASURING AT HOME WITH A PAPER MODEL
If you are not able to visit a goldsmiths store, you can use a paper strip to make a ring model and measure your finger with it.
Cut a strip of paper which is around the same width as the ring you are planning to order. It is easier to take the measurements, if the paper strip is long. Make the strip into a circle and place it on your finger. Mark the end of the circle on the paper strip with a pen, open the strip, and measure the length. Use this measurement method to know the circumference of the ring (circ. in the size chart).
You can give us the ring size information in millimeters (mm) or in inches (in). You can use either the circumference or diameter. At Au3 Goldsmiths we use millimeters (mm) and the diameter.
We recommend that you also measure at the joint. You can give us both measurements. When you place your order, you can add information to the notes of the order.
RING FROM AU3 ONLINE SHOP
If the size of the ordered ring doesn’t fit, we can make ring reductions and enlargements. We offer free resizing for half size up/down for our Online shop customers as long as you will contact us when the ring is received, and the ring is shipped back for resizing within 30 days of receiving the ring. For resizing orders, shipping fees must be covered by the customer.
More information about ring alterations is available in the FAQ and in the Refund policies.
With the help of the size chart you can find the right size for your ring.
The size chart below shows you the measurements with different units (mm and inches) and methods (diameter and circumference). We at Au3 Goldsmiths use mm and the diameter.
Find your own measurement and compare it to the one in the Au3 column. When you are ordering a ring from the Au3 Online shop, choose your size as it appears in the Au3 column, but you can add more information regarding the measurements in the notes of the order.
If you have any questions about ring sizes, please send us a message: au3@au3.fi or contact us by phone: +358 9 436 50090. We are happy to help!
